We live in a country where the law has turned upside down, fair is foul and foul is fair Ghana. The destruction of water bodies, forests, and cocoa farms for gold is normal. We have chiefs, presidents and ministers who have absolute power to control the nonsense. Are they also key players in the galamsey activities?

The attorney general has reminded 39 Democracy Hub Demonstrators for two weeks, while the same police cannot arrest a single person for being engaged in illegal mining. Some of the people picked did not harm, but they were arrested for being part of the demonstration against illegal mining.

It is a fact that none of the 39 arrested had any weapons on them, not even wine, but they were being mishandled like criminals, some were carried like deadwood to the kitchen. Any Ghanaian who sees this mass arrest as being normal may have his egos.

I strongly believe that, if the police had deployed their teams to the various mining sites in Ghana, our water bodies would have been saved.

Does it mean that Ghanaians no longer have the right to demonstrate? Why should the police arrest someone from the church? Why could the police detain innocent people for more than 48 hours? Why did the police refuse them their right to call their parents and lawyers? These strategies will never work in favour of any political party on the 7th of December. No security intimidations can change the will of Ghanaians in the December polls.

President Nana Akufo Addo has been a disgrace to Ghana and the NPP Party. Why has Nana Addo woefully failed to stop the illegal mining he promised Ghanaians in 2016 during his campaign tour across the country?

What has happened to the National Cathedral and the Ghana Trade Fair? Nana Addo’s government had demolished all the buildings and couldn’t lay a foundation. Several portions of the land are sold to individuals for their construction. $58m had been spent on the National Cathedral. Trade Fair was demolished, yet not even a foundation had been laid. This is where Ghanaians expect the police to investigate and bring the victims to order not minor issues!
