The Techiman metropolitan Director of Agriculture in the Bono East region, Stephen Aidoo has urged Ghanaian farmers to switch to irrigation farming since the climate change affecting farm produce in recent times. He says the solution to food security in Ghana is the adoption of modern time farming practices. He said this when the people of the Techiman metropolitan were marking the 40th Farmers’ Day celebration in the Bono East region.
The overall best farmer in the metropolitan went to a 64-year-old woman of Mangoase of the Techiman metropolitan, Victoria Foriwaa. She took home a Motor King and several other farming implements. The third and second positions received motorbikes with farming implements among others. Six other farmers were also awarded.
The Techiman metropolitan chief executive, Hon Benjamin Gyarko praised the president, Nana Akufo Addo and the Techiman South member of parliament, Hon Adjei Mensah Korsah for their effort to elevate Techiman municipal to Metropolitan status.
The MP Hon Adjei Mensah Korsah pleaded with the people to ensure free and fair elections on the 7th of December. He honestly urged the people to vote for the NPP to maintain power to continue with their good works. He assured that in the 2025 Farmers Day celebration, the overall best Metropolitan farmer will receive a car award.
The overall best award was presented by the Hon Minister, Adjei Mensah Korsah, Hon Benjamin Garko and the Chiefs. The 64-year-old award winner, Victoria Foriwaa urged the youth to take farming as a serious business.
