The finance minister, Ato Forson has controlled the dollar downwards just three months after taking office. Trading dealers with the dollar have expressed their profound gratitude to the NDC government for addressing the dollar, that messed up the Ghanaian economy in the previous administration, where the dollar was exchanged at 1 dollar to 17 Ghana cedis.
The Ghanaians expect that, by the end of 2025, the dollar will see a single number. Many thought the scrapping of the e-levy was going to affect the dollar’s gaining its superiority over the Ghanaian cedi, but the story is no different.
Some traders have assured us they will reduce the prices of commodities after their old products are sold out. They expressed happiness as the fuel prices at the pumps have also seen a decline. The final consumers still cannot get it right as commodities are still high. They expect the government to act.
