The Wenchi police of the Bono region in their gun exchanges shot and killed one armed robber on the Wenchi – Wa highway.
The policemen who were patrolling the Wenchi – Wa highway in the early hours of Friday saw some people on the road flashing on them so they decided to slow down to assist them.
Suddenly, some of the guys been ambushed started opening fire on the police. DSP Eric Awudzivi disclosed.
The Wenchi Municipal Police Commander, DSP Eric Awudzivi added that the police also returned fire and gun down one of the robbers who died on the spot while the rest managed to escape.
He further explained that cartridges and some items were found from the deceased.
The body has been deposited at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital morgue while police investigations are ongoing he said.
