Over 70 percent of Ghanaians can’t meet two square meals due to the high cost of the market products.  Only about 5 percent take 3 square meals in Ghana. A tuber of yam in Tema is selling at 40, 4 fruits of tomatoes 20 cedis, sardine 15 cedis, koobi 30 cedis, 3 eggs 9 cedis and frytol 30 cedis.

Don’t forget that transportation, charcoal, pepper and salt had not been added. A family of 4 will spend more than 150 cedis before ampesi can be prepared.

Don’t try to prepare either fufu or emutuo with the groundnut soup. It is sad, many people take porridge in the morning and top up in the night with 10 cedis waakye.
