The queen mother of Nkoranza in the Bono East region, Nana Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani II has been laid to rest. The peak of the one-week celebration of the Queemother started from Friday to Monday. Otumfour Osei Tutu II graced the occasion on Monday with his kinship in their numbers. The revered Queen passed away at the age of 105 while receiving treatment at the health facility. Her death was officially announced on March 29, 2024.
Accompanied by a significant entourage from the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the Asantehene joined other respected traditional authorities across Asanteman to pay their last respects to the late Queenmother. A vibrant display of Asante culture and tradition underscored the solemn ceremony.
Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani Mmrosa II was highly regarded for her lifelong advocacy of unity and child education, which formed the foundation of the Nkoranza Queenmothers Association. She led the association until her death, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire.
In Nkoranza tradition, the Queenmother, is traditionally regarded as the wife of the Asantehene and the sister of Amakomhene.
On Saturday, the traditional chief of the Bono region including the former first lady, Lordina Mahama who represented the former president, John Mahama and the NDC party members came in their numbers.
Another significant figure in the Nkoranza, Nick Danso Abeam, wife and workers came to grace the occasion. Nick Danso Abeam hosted all the dignitaries in his house with local and continental dishes.
